Izea Ranks Data Is Inaccurate
This article was part of a series about Izea Ranks not showing proper data. You may view the related photos here. The images will also be added to this article, but may not be in the correct order. I mentioned before that a lot of people are complaining about Stumble Upon hits not being counted with Izea Ranks. It looks like that's not all that's being left out. Out of curiosity mostly I decided to pay attention to my stats Izea is throwing out there for at least a few days. I wanted to see how they compare to the other places I use for stats like Statcounter, Google Analytics, and my Firestats plugin. This has nothing to do with how people feel about the actual ranking system. This totally deals with nothing but the stats being reported in our charts. At this point, I'm seeing yet another reason why Izea Ranks is a bad idea. Izea Ranks is showing completely inaccurate data. Remember I've already had the PPPTools script installed on my blog, so Izea/PPP has been collecting these stats from me for at least a couple months now. This isn't the case of just getting myself into the system. Let's start by taking a look at my current chart for this blog (see Image- Izea Ranks Chart). As usual, you can click on the photos for the larger size. Notice that Wednesday's line is barely over the 0 mark. Thursday shows about half way between 25-50 unique visitors. When we hit the export chart button we can get an Excel chart that gives us actual numbers. (see Image- Izea Ranks Exported) In the larger view we can see that column G is Wednesday's number while column H is yesterday. It reads that I had 3 total unique visits for the entire day Wednesday and 40 yesterday. Yeah that's totally not right. Now, when we take a look at my Statcounter log we see totally different numbers. Statcounter shows 135 unique hits on Wednesday and 106 unique hits yesterday (see Image- Statcounter Results). Of course I'm not relying on Statcounter to be completely accurate either, so I manually counted the unique ip hits I've logged in Audit Trail. I counted 132 on Wednesday and 109 from yesterday. My findings yet again prove to me my Stumble upon hits aren't being counted, but when I manually counted my Stumble upon referrals on Wednesday, I only had a total of 29. Where did the rest of my traffic come from? Most of it came from other websites, search engines, or hits from rss subscribers clicking through to my site, but where did those stats go? Why aren't they showing on my Izea Rank stats? It will be interesting to see what my stats look like when my Izea Ranks chart updates to show today's information, but honestly I just don't see Izea Ranks going very far. It's bad enough it's taboo because the PayPerPost name will still be affiliated with it no matter how many times the company changes it's name, but now we see the stats aren't even accurate! I'm by no means a Google fan, but I just don't see Izea Ranks being the answer to the "paid to blog vs Google" problem. |
